About Our Straddle Carriers
A straddle carrier is a wheeled lifting machine that works astride its load. The portal frame runs on rubber tires, drives over a container or cabinet, connects at the corners, raises the load inside its own frame and travels with it to the next position, so picking up, moving and setting down are all done by one machine.
Kitanocrane builds straddle carriers for shipping containers and for energy storage cabinets and mobile storage units. The frame opening, the lifting gear, the steering and the way the machine is operated, from a driver's cab, by remote control or with automated driving, are settled for each order.
Holding the load at its four corners keeps it level and steady on the move, and the control system helps the operator place the lifting gear accurately. Safety equipment is part of every machine: collision guards, brakes, overload protection and monitoring. Each carrier is designed and built in our own factory.
Choosing a Straddle Carrier
-
01
Load type Tell us whether you handle standard shipping containers, energy storage cabinets or other boxed equipment, and how the load is picked up: corner fittings, lifting lugs or slings.
-
02
Site and route Indoor workshop, outdoor yard or both; the ground surface, slopes, door openings and the tightest turn on the route decide the frame size and the steering arrangement.
-
03
Way of operating A driver's cab, remote control and automated driving are all possible. The right choice depends on how often the machine works and how many people share the route.
