Straddle Carriers
Container Straddle Carrier
Container straddle carrier that drives over a shipping container, locks onto its four corner fittings and moves it between stacking, loading and storage points.
Overview
Container Straddle Carrier
The container straddle carrier is a self-propelled portal frame on wheels, built to pick up and move shipping containers without a separate crane. The machine drives over the container so that the box sits between its legs, the lifting gear engages the container at its four corner fittings, and the load is raised clear of the ground and carried inside the frame to wherever it is needed.
Because lifting and travelling are done by the same machine, a container can be picked up, moved across a workshop or yard and set down again in one cycle. Every carrier is built to order: tell us the container sizes you handle, the weight of the heaviest loaded box and the ground you work on, and we will send a configuration and quotation with the full technical data.
Key features
-
01
Straddle design The frame works astride the container instead of suspending it from an overhead crane, which shortens each pick-up and set-down and raises handling efficiency.
-
02
Four-corner lifting The container is held at its four corner fittings, so it stays level and secure on the move and is steadier in transit than with conventional handling methods.
-
03
Safety protection Anti-collision guards, a braking system, overload protection and intelligent monitoring are fitted to lower the risk of accidents during lifting and travel.
-
04
Remote and automated operation Remote operation and automated driving are supported, and the control system helps to position the lifting gear accurately over the container.
-
05
Built to order Inside width, lifting height, wheel arrangement and control mode are matched to your containers and your site.
Where it is used
- Container yards and depots Shuttling boxes between stacking rows, inspection points and truck loading lanes.
- Factories and warehouses Bringing containers to the loading dock or into the workshop for filling and emptying, then taking them back out to the yard.
- Inland terminals Moving containers between road vehicles and ground storage where a fixed gantry crane is not justified.
